Hello Brighton!!

I can’t believe that day is finally here where I start my journey to Europe! Surprisingly, it really hasn’t hit me that this is actually happening… its so crazy. I am currently beginning to type this post x amount of feet off the ground in plane going to Iceland, which is where I will be making my last connection flight which will be LONDON! The night before leaving, I pulled an all nighter and I feel like that plus the lack of sleep I received on the flights I hope that it helps me not get jet lagged so badly. I had two connections flights (Seattle > Toronto, Canada > Reykjavik, Iceland > London, UK) which I barley made leaving Tornto and made just in time. At the Iceland airport I got this croissant sandwich, weird smoothie drink thing, and some apple juice. All the words on these items were super foreign, but let me tell yeah, it was tasty even if it was a little over priced.

What was super duper awesome was that my longest flight (5 hours 45 minutes) my little TV thing was broken and I didn’t get to watch movies and to my dismay, I couldn’t fall asleep. Out of the 14 hour travel, everything went pretty smoothly, or so I thought… I get to Gatwick-London Airport and I walk down a long hall, exhausted, to passport check and what not than to baggage claim. I wait 45 minutes as everyone goes and grabs all of their baggage mine don’t show up. A little put off guard, I wait a little bit to see if my bag was last for some odd reason. While a wait a few minutes the baggage claims goes again, but the screen reads that the bags from Iceland have been claimed and now the bags being put on are from Amsterdam. WHAT IN THE HECK??! So I walk over to this wall and tell the Lady that my bags didn’t show up, she feels bad (as I can tell by her voice) and she goes and looks for me to see if for some reason it wasn’t thrown on. Sadly, no luck. I than call a taxi and I am on my way to Brighton! I get to the hotel, shower up than head out to explore the seafront. I walk around grab some lunch, fish and chips with mushy peas, walk around and decide to head to the mall where I should get some clothes for the next few days.

Fast forwarding a bit, I make it to campus finally and I am the first one in my flat. Since I don't have any bags to unpack, I just set up my bed and relax a bit. The next day my first "flat mate" moves, who is an American and his name is Josh. Him and I were the only people on our floor until the international kids moved in, which includes Roxanne from France, Dan from Romania, Francesco from Spain, and Nadale from France. We actually gain two more roommates tomorrow, so I am excited to meet them!

Overall this past week, I have done a lot of walking (to the point of many blisters and my shoes only being Docs, dont really help much), shopping, checking out pubs, some more walking, meeting people and lots of talking and laughing. I also went on a field trip organized by the program that I am in and I almost saw everything that I could in just a day. My friends and I went on a hike and we found the cutest tea place, and yeah! My list can go on and on and on for what I did but I will keep it short for now. Oh yeah! I almost forgot to mention that I finally received both of my bags and can now unpack. No more stress in that section of my life.

I am super stoked at what this school year has to come and I am very glad that I met so many people already who I can share this experience with. Thank you for the love and support you all bring to me, even by reading this crappy blog. I promise I will get better at updating my blogs so that each post wont take a week and they wont be so lengthy because Im sure that at some points you skimmed over. ;) If you want to send letters or text me, facebook message me and I can send that over to you.

My feet are killing me. Thank you. Cheers. x

10 Days???!!

I could've sworn that there was an extra zero at the end of the 10. It's crazy that it's so close for me to leave overseas. A million and one emotions are hitting me and I'm so excited for this new journey. I am also still very very thankful that I've been given this opportunity and I will always be. It wouldn't have happened without my biggest supporters, God and my family. Honesty, I wouldn't be where I am without them.

Today in church we talked about "season" and what "seasons" we are in our lives. It was weird that this sermon was exactly what I needed to hear because it helped answer a lot of my questions that has been sitting in my mind. I pray that during this season of my life that I will do everything in His will and do what I love praising him. I know what season I am on right now, and it will be a journey. That is all for now folks.

Yours truly, Amanda x
